Invite Students in Two Taps

Published: July 24, 2026 · WithCoach 6.0.1 and 6.0.2

Two releases went out this week. Most of the work went into the parts of coaching that happen before any video is compared: getting a student into your workspace, and finding the clip you want once they are there.

Invite a student straight from Contacts

Adding a student no longer means retyping what your phone already knows. The Add Student sheet can pull a name, email, phone number, and photo from the iOS contact picker, and the contact photo stays on your device. The button then tells you how the student will actually be reached: it reads “Send Email Invite” when an address is filled in, and “Create Share Link” when you leave it blank. If you get pulled away mid-invitation, choosing a contact no longer discards what you had already entered.

Your storage covers your students

This has always been true, and it was never stated clearly enough: a student you invite does not need a subscription. They download the free app and work from your storage pool for as long as your plan is active. A coach who has not added anyone yet now sees that explained in the Library, instead of a filter with nothing in it to filter.

References is now a built-in tag

Reference clips — the pro swing, the model stroke, the technique you are coaching toward — are a permanent system tag on every video. It cannot be renamed, duplicated, or deleted, and reference clips follow whichever student you have selected rather than appearing only while nothing is filtered. If an older build left you with a custom tag called References, it gets folded into the built-in one automatically. Tagging a video also syncs to the cloud now, which it quietly did not do before.

The paywall leads with what you are actually buying

Plan cards now put cloud capacity first, because that is the difference between the coaching tiers. The per-month figure on annual plans comes straight from the App Store price rather than being calculated in the app, so what you read is what Apple will charge.

Signing in works from the Home Screen

A build installed from Xcode and later opened from the Home Screen could end up pointing at a development server that was not running, and sign-in would fail with no useful explanation. Every build now targets the production service by default. Removing a student also revokes their sponsored access in the same operation, so access cannot linger after someone has left your roster.

Core comparison stays free. Unlimited local side-by-side analysis, every drawing tool, and every playback speed down to 1/8x cost nothing, and export and sharing remain available with a WithCoach watermark. Paid plans add cloud sync, watermark-free output, and coaching workflows.
