Safer Account Deletion and Private Media Foundations

Published: July 21, 2026 · WithCoach 6.0.0

This update strengthens two privacy-sensitive parts of WithCoach: deleting an account and accessing coaching media. The visible changes are intentionally small, while the underlying safeguards are substantial.

Account deletion now completes safely

You can request deletion from the app, including accounts connected through Sign in with Apple. Access is removed immediately, and stored media is cleaned up in the background before the account is permanently removed. If a temporary storage or network problem occurs, cleanup resumes automatically instead of leaving the account in an uncertain state.

Deleting a WithCoach account does not cancel an App Store subscription. The confirmation screen explains this and links directly to Apple’s subscription management page.

Preparing protected media for revocable access

Version 6.0.0 adds on-demand media access to the iPhone app. Instead of depending on a permanent saved media address, the app can request a short-lived link after the server confirms that the signed-in person still has access.

We are rolling the storage migration out in controlled stages so existing videos continue to work while supported app versions adopt the new path. The migration is not considered complete until old public copies have been removed and independently verified as unavailable.

No changes to ownership or storage billing

A student’s video remains owned by that student. When an eligible coach sponsors cloud storage, the coach remains the recorded payer for those exact historical bytes. Disconnecting accounts or deleting media never silently transfers that charge to somebody else.
